Same Sex Marriage

I think we all are tolerant enough for discussion on gay/lesbian marriages. We will not question pros and cons of homosexuality, but concentrate on marriages in this poll.
So, many people think, that letting same gender couples to get married is equal to sacrilege. These people are usually against existence of homosexuals overall, but the idea of two married women or men is even more horrifying for them. Moreover, they are afraid, that after this permission, the next step will be to allow same sex families to become parents. Somehow they think, that it is impossible to raise happy and "normal" child in the family of two loving dads or moms.
However, such resistance to these marriages usually comes from deeply religious people, as homosexuality is beyond their accepted norms. While they are tolerant enough to bear with the fact, that gays and lesbians exist, they cannot accept, that love for the person of same sex is normal and is not an illness. Consequently, they do not agree that same sex pairs should be allowed to live like different gender couples and get no restrictions or discrimination.

What is your opinion on this hot topic? Should same sex pairs have equal rights with different sex ones, and be allowed to get married and have children? Or you are absolutely against it and think, that the less rights homosexuals gain, the less of them will appear?

I think it is completely acceptable.. In this day and age, I feel it is ridiculous that people are still so strongly against this.. What is it to them? Really? What difference does it make to you, if two other homosexuals get married? That's what I always wonder about what people think..

If two people love each other, I feel they should be allowed to be together.. If two of the same sex people decide to bring up children, if they bring them up properly then by all means, go for it!

Hell, even 'conventional' (if you will) married couples can do terrible jobs in raising children.. It isn't the type of marriage that depends on how they're brought up, it is up to the people themselves..

If two guys raise a child, they can do just as good of a job as a man/woman married couple.. As with 2 women.. As long as the children are guided right, have the right role models and are shown whats-what, I don't see what is wrong with it!

So, yes to same-sex marriages from me!

Equating Marriage and kids is incorrect in my opinion. First, as far as homosexuality is concerned, it really is none of the government's business. Whether you agree with it or not, if two men get married, your rights are not being affected at all.
Now, concerning children. Same sex couples are unable to have children. It does take a man and a woman to have them. I do not think state agencies should allow adoption into a homosexual family. However, if a person decides to leave their kids to a homosexual guardian, then that is perfectly within their rights. Also, if a homosexual decides to get pregnant through medical procedures, that is ok too if the donor is agreeing to it.

Society, as we know it will collapse with this kind of pathetic carry on.

Lets nip this liberal 'equal rights' crap in the bud now!

I am surprised at the results of the poll- I thought readers would be less tolerant. I have been quasi-attacking Sarah Palin on my homeschool blog and getting slammed!
After watching the VP debate last week I was disappointed that no major political party in the states supports gay marriage.

What two people do in a bedroom is not the government's business. It is PRIVATE and it is not the government's place to teach such issues to children in public schools.

Let me ask you this... if it is okay for two men to marry, what is the difference with one man marrying five women? It was not unconstitutional to outlaw polygamy. I think the same standard applies here. If we allow gay marriage, then the word "marriage" really means nothing anymore. Anything is permissible. Marriage is only one man and one woman.

i think people should be able to choose who they want to marry.

Same-sex marriage is just wrong! Marriage means one guy and one girl not 2 girls or 2 boys. Marriage should be right.
