Adult Diaper

Adult diaper is not a novel invention. It has been used for a long time for people, who suffer from illnesses that encumber a possibility to use a toilet; for example, incontinence, mobility impairment or dementia. It is also very helpful for those, who are bedridden or in a wheelchair.
However, recently some talks started, that diapers could be a convenient alternative to bathroom for everybody.
The first reasoning behind this idea is time - people are so busy, that they do not have time not only for sleeping, eating, or resting, but for their toilet needs as well. Diapers for grown-ups can provide more freedom, remove the need of constantly going to the bathroom and help save time.
Another advantage of them is related to lack of decent public toilet facilities. Usually these places are unhygienic, so wearing diapers can decrease the risk of infections. Plus, this is how long bathroom lines can be avoided as well.
Moreover, there are some professions, or special cases, when diapers can ease the stress of highly possible incontinence or replace the toilet. That's why guards, deep divers, plane pilots and weightlifters are usually familiar with diapers and many of them use this practical thing.
So, some people think that because of the mentioned reasons, diapers for grown-ups are nothing other than just a practical, safe and healthy form of underwear; and they should have their place in a normal way of living, or even become customary.
However, there is one simple reason, opposing all advantages of adult diapers - they usually have negative connotation in society. These diapers can easily become source of embarrassment, or suggest others, that you have a condition, related to incontinence. So the opponents of adult diapers think, that if this product is so convenient, better solutions or improvements for it are required.
What are your thoughts on this topic - is it possible, that diapers could become an ordinary used thing for grown-ups, or this idea is a total nonsense?

I agree that diapers should become customary in our society, since I personally enjoy wearing diapers, and do not have any need to wear them, except for want.

Great idea! (Thursday, 09.25.08 @ 05:27am)
I should try that too as Alembic says.

This is an excellent idea! Imagine, no more kids leaving classes, with toilet breaks as an excuse, and people really would get more work done!

Are you all joking? Or are you all geeks?
I would never ever wear diapers...

I voted for, because the two options presented didn't really leave room for a middle ground, but in truth, there's a very practical and pragmatic reason why it remains a bad idea: the waste produced would be ENORMOUS. However, if this idea ever really took off: http://www.poopreport.com/BMnewswire/988.html

...the waste issue would be moot.

I started wearing diapers as a teenager because I hated the toilets at school. Now I wear them all the time. My boyfriend accepts it. I think lots of people do.

I'm 43 and wear diapers strictly for convenience. I find them very convenient when shopping, traveling or attending sporting events, and actually have begun to enjoy wearing them wet or dry!
