The candidate that represents the first side strongly is the present president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He is well known for anti-Western attitude and standing in favor of the nuclear program of Iran.
Other candidates speak in more modern and democratic voices. They are Mir Hossein Mousavi, Mohsen Rezai and Mehdi Karroubi. The most hopes of reform-longing citizens are put into Mousavi - he is believed to be the candidate who could beat Ahmadinejad.
The loss of the latter one would be a relief to the rest of the world as well, because the possibility of discussing any matters in more civilized and democratic ways is greater no matter which of the remaining candidates won the election. Iranians also want their problems solved in a more contemporary way, they want to live in a country with modern economical and political approaches as well to have more civil liberties, women's rights and free media. As more than 50% of voters are under 30 years, it may be hard for Ahmadinejad to remain in his position.
Whether you are Iranian or not, tell us your opinion - what are the chances of Ahmadinejad?

The Iranian people are sick of this fool. He has run their country into the ground, he has pushed his values on people who don't agree with him, and uses fear to stay in power. In other words, he's exactly like Bush, and I believe that Iran will get rid of him. Khatami '09!
