Both Sarah and Barack are not only in favor of the 'beauty factor' - they both specially and intensively use it and are gaining from it.
In all the posters, magazines and videos, Obama is pictured not only as the successful and intelligent politician, but also as athletic and fit man. He cleverly uses his looks: has an 'accidentally' unbuttoned shirt collar when meets voters, poses for photographs in the rain, demonstrates his velvet skin.
The Governor of Alaska is described as peculiar sex symbol as well. With certain looks and behavior, she encourages sensual fantasies and tries to form personality cult.
Moreover, the factor of sexuality, which connects Palin and Obama, is not based only on appearance. They both look 'hot' because of their ambitious nature, healthy exhibitionism and a turn for dominance. For example, high heels, short skirts or glaring lips are not the elements that make Palin attractive. The created image of combative and energetic superwoman, almost a modern amazon, does the whole trick.
Biden, McCain and spouses of mentioned candidates all look dull in the context of Obama's and Sarah's popularity.

Barack tries too hard to be cool, nothing sexy about that. Sarah is sincere and honest, beautiful on the inside, and sexy on the outside!
