US - Latin America Relations

Created: 2008-09-13 19:39:44
Looks like Latin American countries united against USA.
The dispute began in Bolivia, where anti-governments are getting increasingly active. President Evo Morales accused USA of supporting protesters, who seek to oust his power and overturn current government.
Venezuela's president Hugo Chavez backed this accusation, and soon both countries expelled US envoys. Reportedly, Mr Chavez told US ambassador "go to hell".
Venezuela's leader did this not only because Bolivia is his ally, but because he has his relations in tense with US as well. Mr Chavez disagrees, that people from his circle assist Columbian rebels in trafficking narcotics. Moreover, he started joint military exercises with Russia, during which Russia's bomber plains will train in Venezuela, and that's very near US...
Bolivia's Morales also regretted publicly for not creating stronger ties with Russia, and told that country's agriculture, energy and defense will seek Russia's aid.
At the end of September, Venezuela also expelled two Human Rights Watch activists, for criticizing weakening democracy in the country.
As for other Latin American countries, new president of Honduras postponed accepting new US ambassador, and Nicaragua's President Daniel Ortega publicly stated his support for Bolivia.

What do you think this diplomatic conflict will turn into? Will Latin America mure up and unitedly make a brake with US? Or these are temporary disputes, and Latins later renew relations, as they would not want to lose their main trade partner and major aid donor?
