Sarah Palin gave us a July 4th surprise - former Republican vice-presidential candidate has announced that she is resigning as governor of Alaska not run for re-election.
Immediately, this decision of still popular governor raised many ideas and questions. As she says, she's is heading to 'a new direction'. This suggests two ideas - she could be really resigning, or it could be just a part of a long-term scheme of a 2012 Presidential election bid plan.
On one hand, it is really difficult to be Sarah Palin: political phenomenon, governor of Alaska, wife and mother - all simultaneously. Or maybe she is really far from able to be the governor of Alaska, let alone vice-president of the United States. Finally, this step can show that she is not interested in the option of 2012 Presidential election.
Whereas on the other hand, this decision could as well be a part of a well-planned presidential bid. She will now be free from the duties of the governorship, can write a book, give speeches, travel the country and the world, campaign for others, meet people, get more educated on the issues. Moreover, she will avoid criticism for neglecting her duties in Alaska.
